How often do we let Easter slip by without truly embracing its profound significance? This year, let's make it different. Let's pause, reflect, and celebrate together in a meaningful way.

We're excited to invite you to Passion & Glory – a special Easter concert that promises to be more than just a performance. It's an opportunity to journey through the Easter story in a powerful and moving way.

  • Date: Saturday 12 April 2025

  • Time: 7:30pm

  • Venue: St Barnabas Church, Broadway, Sydney

  • Plus: Post-show hot chocolates (to learn more about Jesus)

Too often, we rush through Easter weekend without taking time to truly reflect on its transformative message. This concert offers a space to slow down, contemplate, and be moved by the greatest story ever told.

Let the soaring voices of our choir and the rich harmonies of our orchestra transport you through the greatest story ever told. Whether you're a classical music enthusiast or simply seeking a meaningful Easter celebration, Passion and Glory offers a unique blend of timeless sacred works and contemporary Christian music that will touch hearts and inspire worship.

So what are we playing? Selections include:

  • "Gloria" by John Rutter – a 3 movement masterpiece

John Rutter’s "Gloria" is a vibrant and dramatic 3 movement choral work, composed in 1974 as a concert piece rather than a liturgical setting. Commissioned by the Voices of Mel Olson, a choir based in Omaha, Nebraska, the piece quickly became one of Rutter’s most celebrated works.

The work showcases Rutter’s signature blend of lyrical melodies, rich harmonies, and rhythmic energy, drawing inspiration from both Gregorian chant and modern influences. Its grandeur and joyous spirit have made it a staple of choral repertoire worldwide.

Listen

  • "Via Dolorosa" – a musical journey to the cross

Sung by Soprano Brianna Louwen, "Via Dolorosa" is a deeply moving and powerful song that captures the anguish and sacrifice of Christ’s journey to the cross.

Written by Billy Sprague and first popularized by Sandi Patty, this haunting yet beautiful piece weaves rich melodies with poignant lyrics, painting a vivid picture of Jesus walking the sorrowful path through the streets of Jerusalem.

With its emotional depth and stirring orchestration, "Via Dolorosa" has become a beloved staple in Christian music, often performed during Holy Week and Easter.

"When I Survey" & "How Great Thou Art" – breathtaking hymn arrangements

Our very own Josh Clift’s breathtaking arrangement of "How Great Thou Art" makes it's return after it's triumphant reception at our Messiah Concert last November.

"How Great Thou Art" comes alive with majestic orchestral grandeur, capturing the wonder of creation and the glory of God’s power.

We know you love hymns, so we haven't stopped there – "When I Survey" unfolds as a sweeping musical journey, blending rich harmonies and stirring crescendos that magnify the depth of Christ’s sacrifice.
