Sunday 2 August from 6pm to 7:30pm
The Bokonon Orchestra presents its debut charity concert in support of the Australian Children’s Music Foundation, with all profits donated to helping young Australians access music education and community through classical music. Completely run by students, the orchestra brings together secondary and tertiary musicians from across Sydney, creating a rare youth-led platform for ambitious orchestral performance.
The program offers vivid Romantic drama, opening with Lalo’s Le roi d’Ys Overture and Tchaikovsky’s Slavonic March before Leon Lan performs Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Leon holds L.Mus.A with Distinction, received awards at the 2019 Sydney Piano World National Competition, and won the 2025 Ryde-Eastwood Open Piano Solo. The concert is conducted by 16-year-old Tim Lin from North Sydney Boys High School, who has worked with guest conductors Scott Ryan and Panagiotis Karamanos.
