Arranged is an eclectic collection of ceramic vases, each piece reflecting a unique intersection of influences that have shaped my creative practice. While diverse in style and reference, all the works are united by a deep connection to the native flora and fauna I encounter during my explorations of the Australian bush.
Some vases draw inspiration from the stylised forms and decorative motifs of Art Deco and Art Nouveau—an aesthetic that traces back to my architectural studies and formative time spent in Vienna, where I became captivated by the Vienna Secessionists.
I am also drawn to the detailed botanical illustrations of early European explorers such as Joseph Banks and Ferdinand Bauer. Their intricate documentation of Australia’s plant life offers a rich visual language that I reimagine through ceramic form.
Other works are more whimsical, sparked by a poem, a line from a song, or a fleeting moment of wonder—often inspired by a bird, flower, or plant observed in the wild. These spontaneous encounters leave lasting impressions that I try to capture in clay through form, texture, and pattern.
Together, these vases form a personal archive of visual memory, storytelling, and reverence for the natural world.
