Saturdays, 2pm to 3pm Saturday 5 April to Saturday 12 April
Join Catherine Love for a two-part lecture series at the Art Gallery of New South Wales that explores fashion trends during two significant periods of the 20th century.
Explore the glamorous garments showcased by emerging Hollywood stars in the early 20th century and discover how the First and Second World Wars influenced material availability.
Examine how the demographic changes of the 1950s and the emergence of peaceful protest, punk culture and rockstars in the second half of the 20th century determined what was fashionable, and consider how what we wear can be an act of rebellion in itself.
Catherine Love is currently undertaking a PhD exploring the benefits of cross-pollination between fashion and architecture, following a 40-year career as a practising architect with a passion for design.
