Community Stories: Rebuilding for a Better Future

Where
Australian Museum
Australian Museum
Cnr William & College Streets, Sydney NSW 2000
When

Tuesday 14 May from 6pm to 8pm

Communities are feeling the on-ground impacts of climate change. Disasters like bushfires, floods, and heatwaves are increasing in occurrence and severity. Power bills are fuelling the cost of living pressures. In times of crisis, building strong relationships and connecting within our local community can provide us with the support and collective resilience to take local action.

Join us to hear from two community organisers who upon being struck with climate disasters, have connected within their community to organise, and take action into their own hands. We’ll be joined by Bushfire Survivors For Climate Action and Renewable Cobargo, who will speak to their personal stories, and the grass-roots projects they’re leading in their communities and beyond to ensure a stable climate and healthy nature for the future. Claire O'Rourke, campaigner, change expert and author of Together We Can will be facilitating the conversation.

This event is part of Sydney Climate Action week; a series of community-led events from all aspects of the climate action ecosystem running from the 13-19 May 2024. This event is proudly supported by City of Sydney, Greenhouse and Boundless.
