Cilla Davis enjoys life drawing, and the figure is often seen in her work.
Her landscapes and still lifes are semi abstract. She paints mainly in acrylic and oil paint and uses mixed media for works on paper and canvas. She is a Fellow of The Royal Art Society of New South Wales and taught for many years at Kuring-Gai Art Centre in Roseville where she met and mentored Dan.
She now teaches workshops throughout New South Wales and Canberra. Selected and hung in many Award exhibitions including: Emsla Coffs Harbour, KAAF finalist, Hunters Hill, Waverley, Blacktown. Twice winner of the Guy Warren Prize judged by Barry Pearce and Matilda Mitchell. Lane Cove Municipal Art Award judged by Bernard Ollis. Lloyd Reece prize Best in Show judged by Wendy Sharpe.
Dan Gild paints and works in ceramics.
Dan loved Cilla’s art classes in Roseville where she went for 15 years. Pushing the edges in acrylics on paper and canvas and establishing her own uninhibited style of painting. 10 years ago, she began working with clay as well and extended her mark making on to the ceramic surfaces. Her work has been described as intuitive with a fresh and joyful palette.
An acquired brain injury and amputations have not deterred her enthusiasm for making artworks. She has exhibited at the Adelaide Perry Gallery; North Sydney; Kuringai Art Centre student shows; NSTE Art show; Lane Cove Art Society shows; TAFE ceramics exhibitions; Danielle and Friends at the Balmain Watch House
