Caesura Ensemble: Juncture

When

Friday 12 December from 7:30pm to 8:30pm

For our fourth concert, Caesura Ensemble performs the legendary First Symphony of Johannes Brahms, and the premiere of a new work titled Unnamed Auroras by Caesura Ensemble’s musical director, Tim Doubinski. Join us for an extremely rare free symphonic concert (almost never happens with works of this scale) in one of Sydney’s finest halls, featuring 52 of some of Sydney’s most talented young musicians. This one-off performance is not to be missed!

Unnamed Auroras meditates on the ‘auroras’ of daily life, the fleeting moments of joy and beauty that are ultimately short-lived. The work swings broadly between expansive, colourful soundscapes and driving rhythmic passages.

Brahms’ First Symphony was famously a multi-decade struggle for the composer to finish, but the symphony has since immortalised itself as one of the greatest in the genre. Each movement soars in its distinctive character from the tempestuousness of the first, the lushness of the second, the refinement of the third, and the radiance of the fourth.
