Thursday 21 August from 10am to 10:45am
Join award-winning author and illustrator Jess McGeachin for a special Book Week workshop of storytelling and drawing.
Jess McGeachin will share where he gets ideas, the ways that books can take you on adventures, and what it’s like to meet penguins in real life (very noisy!). Jess draws inspiration from the natural world and has written and illustrated 12 fiction and non-fiction picture books. His non-fiction picture book Deep won the CBCA Eve Pownall Award in 2023 and his books Kind and The Tree at Number 43 won the Environment Award for Children’s Literature. Jess is lucky enough to work for a museum, where he occasionally gets lost in the basement.
During this workshop, Jess will read his book South with the Seabirds (shortlisted for the 2025 CBCA Awards) as well as his brand-new book (shhh… it’s a secret).
Suitable for children aged 8-12 but all welcome.
Students will need paper and a pencil to do some nature drawing of their own.
This event will be held online via Zoom. You will be sent the link to join the session with your booking confirmation. For help with joining and participating in Zoom Webinars: Joining and participating in Zoom Webinars.
