A Recital of French Baroque Chamber Music for flute, celebrating the music of composer Joseph Bodin de Boismortier on the 270th Anniversary of the composer’s death.
Renowned Australian flutist, Melissa Farrow (Principal flute with Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and guest Principal with Australian Haydn Ensemble, Pinchgut Opera, ARCO and the ACO, Lecturer in Baroque Flute at Sydney Conservatorium of Music), is joined by Professor Marion Treupel-Franck (Professor for Traverso and Historically-Informed Performance, Hochschule für Music und Theater München HMTM and Hochschule für Katholische Kirchenmusik Regensburg HfKM), German-based Australian soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, Latham Horn (Flutist and Archivist of the Kurorchester Bad Füssing, performer with Bach-Orchester München, Akademie Versailles, Lucerne Festival Strings), Mikaela Oberg (Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Pinchgut Opera, former student of Barthold Kuijken and performer with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment) and Jacob Lawler (Australian Brandenburg Emerging Artists and Australian Haydn Ensemble Emerging Artists) in a charming and engaging program of this master of Baroque music for flute.
The program will include solos, duos, trios and a concerto for 5 flutes, including: Sonate en trio op.7 No.5 in G major, Suite op. 35 No.1 in E minor, Sonate en trio op.7 No.1 in D major, Concerto op.38 No.2 in E minor, Sonate en trio op.7 No.4 in D minor and Concerto op.15 No.1 pour 5 Flûtes-Traversieres in G major.
This wonderful evening is part of the biennial Australian Flute Festival, which runs from October 3-6 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and welcomes flute players from Australia and around the world.
