★★★★ “…wonderful dexterity and high energy” – Sydney Arts Guide, 2026
Bohemian composers were surprisingly numerous in the 18th century and, while not exactly household names today, they had a significant impact on some who are, including Beethoven and Mozart.
Don’t miss these superb period instrumentalists* performing an elegant and exciting program of little-knowns, rounded out with Beethoven’s superb String Quartet 18 No. 3, written for the music super fan Prince Lobkowitz.
*A period instrument is one that is set up as it would have been at the time the music was written – this often means strings made of gut, different bows, no chin rests, and a lot of other details, small and large. The end result is a wonderful sound – as close as we know to the sound-world the composers themselves knew and loved.
