Base Camp

Base Camp is Heaps Decent’s free masterclass series running every two weeks at our headquarters in Sydney. Led by Heaps Decent’s Creative Lead Adam Bozzetto and special guest industry professionals, these sessions offer young emerging artists the chance to learn essential music skills from the pros – no experience needed.

Each masterclass focuses on different aspects of music creation and the industry, covering everything from DJing fundamentals and vocal techniques to advanced production skills and music business strategies. Sessions are designed to be accessible for beginners while also offering advanced workshops for those looking to take their skills to the next level.

Upcoming Base Camp sessions:

• DJing (Beginner) – 4 August, 4-6pm: Ready to step behind the decks? Learn mixing fundamentals and DJ software basics to get you started.

• Singing Techniques – 18 August, 4-6pm: Unlock your vocal potential with proper breathing, pitch control, and performance techniques.

• DJing Hip Hop, RNB and Scratching (Advanced) – 1 September, 4-6pm: Take your DJ skills to the next level with advanced mixing and scratching techniques.

• Music Business and Releasing Strategies – 15 September, 4-6pm: Turn your music into a career with essential industry knowledge and digital release strategies.

All equipment and materials are provided, and participants get hands-on experience with professional-grade gear and software. Our industry guest facilitators bring real-world experience and current knowledge, giving participants insights into today’s music landscape and practical skills they can apply immediately.

Base Camp connects to our broader Home Base program, offering participants additional learning opportunities to develop their craft and industry knowledge. Many Base Camp attendees go on to participate in our weekly Home Base studio sessions, creating a supportive community of emerging artists.

Sessions run from 4-6pm and are held at Heaps Decent HQ. Participants meet at OK Cool café at 119 Bathurst Street, Sydney, and we bring you up to the studio space.
