Bach in the Dark is back in the magical space of St James Church crypt.

To start the 2025 season, Rachel is delighted to be joined by dear friend, harpist extaordinaire, broadcaster and audience favourite, Genevieve Lang! The combination of cello and harp is a really magical one, and these two friends love playing together – so get ready for a very special night! They will also be joined by actor Bernadette Ryan, from ‘Sport For Jove’ who will be performing with them for two special moments in the program, linking two pieces to spoken word. You’ll remember this concert for a long while – it will be magical.

The program will include music by Bach (of course!), music inspired by Bach by audience favourite Richard Charlton, music from the Spanish Baroque, music by Spanish composer Joaquín Nin and some songs by Australian composers Andrew Ford, Carl Vine and Martin Wesley-Smith. The words are written by William Shakespeare and Maya Angelou. There will be moments to make you smile, pieces that will have your toes tapping, and moments that will slow your heart.

Book

The crypt will be open at 6.30pm, and a glass of wine (or non-alchoholic equivalent) will be offered to every patron. Ticket sales will stop at 2pm on the day of the concert, and if there are any tickets available, they will be available at the doors of the crypt as you arrive.
