One of the biggest musical influences in Rachel Scott's life was the composer Martin Wesley-Smith (1945 – 2019) and she has often programmed his works in concerts over the last two decades.
Over the last year, she (assisted by sound engineer Ben Sibson) has been recording all the works he wrote for solo cello – some for cello alone, some for singing cellist, and the incredible ‘Welcome to the Hotel Turismo’ for cello and audio-visuals.
Tonight, in Sydney, she’ll launch her new CD of all of Martin’s music for solo cello – two of these works have never been recorded before.
Come for a glass of bubbles, and get ready to laugh, cry, wonder and sigh with pleasure listening to the output of this incredible Australian composer. You might even want to buy a recording!
