Monday 1 June from 6pm to 9pm
SOFT CENTRE and Brand X present Video Art & Sound Design Workshop by Passive Kneeling and *ssx, a three-hour deep dive into cross-discipline collaboration, led by VJ/director Passive Kneeling (Tom Vanderzeil) and producer/workshop facilitator Shan Flanders (*ssx, Safety Club).
Working in pairs — one visual artist, one audio producer — you’ll create a short video and a piece of sound design simultaneously. The session begins with a 30-minute presentation and live demo before moving into 90 minutes of hands-on collaborative making using free software and familiar creative tools.
This workshop is presented in collaboration with SOFT CENTRE. Limited tickets are available exclusively for Brand X Artist Pass Holders. To secure your place, please contact programs@brandx.org.au.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Saigon-via-Sydney multidisciplinary artist Passive Kneeling is a cult figure in Australia’s underground music scene. For over a decade he’s been building spellbinding visual worlds for artists like 1tbsp, Bag Raiders and Ninajirachi. On May 28th he premieres Echo Sleep— his Sydney Opera House x SOFT CENTRE Shortwave commission — at the Opera House.
Joining him on this workshop is Melbourne-based producer Shanahan Flanders (*ssx, Safety Club, lil ket), the main composer/sound designer for the film.
ABOUT ARTIST-2-ARTIST
